It may not be to everyone’s taste but NZ is the ‘filling’ in a westerly weather sandwich over the coming week or two.
It’s created when high pressure dominates Australia and to NZ’s north, while low pressure storms dominate the Southern Ocean – this places New Zealand in the belt of windy westerlies in between.
This is helping push Tuesday’s temperatures above normal – but a cold change on Wednesday will bring some snow and colder weather into the South Island and lower North Island. But west to south west winds dominate NZ and the southern states of Australia for the coming days.
