A classic cold front is moving up NZ over the next 24 hours bringing a burst of S to SW gales to some areas and snow for the mountains and ranges – as far north as the Gisborne Ranges.
The cold blast is short lived – and in fact the airflow is not going to go much below normal for the South Island, but the North Island may notice it more.
Australia is smothered in high pressure – but showers in coastal areas will build up around QLD, VIC and WA.
