VIDEO: NZ 7 Day: Big anticyclone moves in (cold), then moves out (milder)

Cold air will stay in place across most of NZ for the next several days but by the end of next week a warmer flow from the sub-tropics may be moving in – or about to.

The powerful high pressure zone (anticyclone) moving in now has great ‘reach’ – by that we mean it’s scooping up colder subantarctic air this week, locking that cold next week as the high passes over, then by the end of next week may well usher in warmer subtropical air.

Rainfall is low across NZ with all regions drier than average for this time of year over the next 7 days.

We have your forecast and rainfall map through to Friday next week. Have a great weekend!
