NZ is covered in high pressure today and will have plenty of high pressure lingering around the North Island in the days ahead.
However sub-tropical winds and a storm in the Southern Ocean will combine to bring windier, warmer, weather to the South Island.
A low (or lows) will form in the Tasman Sea from this weekend and into next week – but NZ is somewhat protected by high pressure from a direct hit at this stage.
