A violent thunderstorm gave birth to a massive tornado that ripped through the port city of Taranto, Italy Wednesday.
The wedge-shaped twister brought down a chimney stack as well as damaging a warehouse and lighthouse.
The tornado also hit a steel plant, injuring about 20 workers. The storm only added to the plant’s troubles as it was already caught up in a widening pollution scandal.
This video shot by university student Daniele Carbotti.
You can hear him saying, in Italian, that this is “Something never seen before in Taranto”. Carbotti also says “Jesus Christ, it must have ripped out a light pole”.
