Sub-tropical rain has been fantastic for northern NZ overnight and today helping saturate the ground in areas that have been dry most of this year.
The rain will continue into the weekend off and on. Meanwhile the South Island is between the high and the low with some rain in the north and more bleak conditions continuing.
However next week a wintry southerly will kick in nationwide – bringing a temperature drop to the north and snow to lower levels in the South Island.
