NZ has a fairly quiet week weatherwise but many places will be warmer than they were last week.
By this weekend sub-tropical winds will be developing.
As we head through next week there are signs high pressure may slip away with both a Tasman Sea low and a tropical cyclone both worth monitoring (too far to lock in yet).
We also track rainfall totals right over NZ for the coming 3 days.

Another awesome job Phil, and team, trust you are safe , love a good storm not sure a tropical cyclone is in my category as far as storms go , but at least we have something to focus on in these strange times we are in. Thanks for keeping us posted, love this Chanel.

I would like to know why the Chatham Island is not included in the overall N.Z. weather forecast?

Hi Clive, the Chathams weather forecast is captured by our local hourly and 10 day forecasts for them. The weather there isn’t influenced by mountains or Australia very much so we don’t tend to talk about them as there isn’t much to talk about – still, in other broadcasts (like our 10 minute long rural forecast on CountryTV) we often mention them. In 15 years we’ve never had anyone message us from there either – are you from there? Be great if you were! We have limited resources as a free service so focus on where most people are located most of the time.
Cheers
Phil D
