Hail showers and gales in Auckland and other northern areas will ease today as high pressure Aussie moves in. The high will bring widespread inland frosts to the South Island tonight with lighter winds and clearer skies.
Showers and southerlies continue in some eastern parts of the North Island due to a low pressure zone near the Chatham Islands.
Apart from a weak cold front brushing Adelaide to Melbourne, much of Australia is seeing a settled weather pattern due to high pressure.
