NZ has a wintry change spreading in over the next 36 hours with heavy snow in the mountains, big seas in the west and a cooler reset.

But it may not be as cold as you’re thinking with windy weather actually helping to lift temperatures above normal as early as Thursday again in the eastern North Island.
