VIDEO: Detailed update on storm moving into NZ

> From the WeatherWatch archives

A deep low pressure zone in the Tasman Sea will peak on Friday just west of Taranaki then cross central NZ over Saturday.

It will bring a couple bursts of wind, with the strongest likely to be in the gale west to north west surge on Saturday.

This kicks off a number of windy west to south west days for NZ starting from Sunday and not easing until mid to late next week. Keep up to date with MetService warnings and watches

We’ll have more details on Friday – and please check WeatherWatch.co.nz and RuralWeather.co.nz to drill down deeper in our news updates, maps and data.

Hi Janet, best bet is to use http://www.RuralWeather.co.nz – it shows you hourly, daily and weekly rain graphs and totals. Also keep an eye on the general MetService rain warnings and watches which will have totals once they know them – currently there are none for the lower North Island (as of 12:30pm Thursday): https://www.weatherwatch.co.nz/maps-radars/warnings/metservice
