VIDEO: Detailed update on NZ’s weather

> From the WeatherWatch archives

It’s a bit windy and wet for the North Island as a sub-tropical low tracks southwards towards us.

Rain on Thursday tracks southwards over the North Island with heavy afternoon falls in the Upper North Island. A weak but cold southerly is in the South Island bringing some patchy rain or drizzle to some areas.

On Friday the North Island rain tracks down the east coast and across much of the lower half of the island and into the upper half of the South Island with blustery winds – winds may ease a bit for northerners with even the sun possibly coming out for a time.

But by Friday night and Saturday a blustery south to south west flow spreads over New Zealand – easing back on Sunday as the low quickly departs to the east.
