Updated — We have a low near East Cape and a cold change coming in from the opposite end of the country – spreading up NZ on Sunday and Monday with colder air, southern snow on the ranges and frosts in sheltered areas.
A new low will form over the North Island this Sunday and Monday.
But next week a powerful high pressure zone moves in from the west and will bringing drier weather to many (not all) regions and an uptick in temperatures later next week.

Many thanks for the report. It looks like my tramping trip to Waikato is off for Sunday as you are predicting rain. Ma te wa.
