VIDEO: Big high replaced by big weekend low

> From the WeatherWatch archives

We have a few thunderstorms and windy nor’westers returning to parts of NZ today (mostly northern NZ) and as we go through Friday more windy westerlies will blow through the North Island with showers.

The east will be warm and mainly dry. This weekend Saturday sees a brief breather before Sunday’s clouds, winds and showers move in.

By early next week low pressure smothers New Zealand followed by a cooler, typically August-like, sou’wester for the rest of next week and likely the rest of the month of August.
