High pressure is rolling in to parts of NZ this weekend but stormy weather in the Southern Ocean will encourage windier westerlies over the South Island and lower North Island at times, especially this Saturday and Monday.
Sunday looks more settled. All weekend leans warmer than average for eastern areas but some cooler weather will brush Southland.
Next week high pressure moves in for Tuesday and Wednesday nationwide as we shift to Covid Alert Level 3. Later next week sub-tropical northerlies spread down over most of the country. The North Island may stay under high pressure right through the first weekend of May too.
