Unsettled weather to end Easter 2023

> From the WeatherWatch archives

Easter Monday may not be the best for some in the west of the country today, rain or showers is expected, downpours and thunderstorms for some too especially Buller across to Nelson for the South Island then Kapiti through to Taranaki further north. This thanks to a low in the Tasman Sea.

Eastern regions and the upper North Island will see warm temperatures in the early to mid twenties so that’s a bonus if you get drier conditions with sun and light winds.

The western side of the country and Southland / Otago has more wet weather on Tuesday and potentially more thunderstorms thanks to our stubborn low in the Tasman. Canterbury northwards in the east is drier and warmer but later in the day the eastern North Island sees rain spread from the west.

The low starts to weaken over Wednesday and Thursday, rain looks to spread northward along the eastern South Island thanks to a southerly airflow moving in. Further north isn’t devoid of wet weather but there are dry areas likely.
