Unseasonable cold remains in the south

> From the WeatherWatch archives

Napier is the warmest centre across the country on 22 degrees this morning while nearby Hastings is just a degree behind. It’s a different story in the south following on from yesterdays hailstorm in Southland, with Gore seeing some heavy showers and a wintry 5 degrees and Invercargill not faring much better on 7.

That colder air is expected to move north today with unstable conditions heading into eastern regions of the South Island  whereas an easing of the heavy rain is expected out west.
