A rige sits above the North Island, while northwesterlies build over the south – meaning a mixed bag of a day for the country.
There may be heavy showers from Northland through to Waikato this morning, though this activity should then ease – meaning a mostly fine day for the cricket!
Northwesterlies will gust fairly strong through the day in Cook Strait too, possibly up to gale strength at times, though that won’t be persistent.
