Two earthquakes have hit Southland.
The first quake measured 6.2 and hit at 6.15pm last night.
GeoNet says the quake was centred at a depth of 10 kilometres, and located 140 kilometres west of Tuatapere.
That was followed by a 4.4 magnitude tremor 85 kilometres west of Tuatapere 15 minutes later.
A Fire Service spokesman says there have been no immediate reports of damage.

I feel like there shiould be lots of comments, but there are none. I see STUFF opened comments for the 5.1 in the North Island last week, but not for this 6.2. Both qukes were over 100km away from people as well. It would seem the people of the South are not as ‘needy’ as the north for attention!
