Here’s what is making the weather headlines today….
CLOUD COVER
Western regions are going to be cloudier than in the east thanks to a westerly quarter airflow lying over New Zealand.
However, after a mainly sunny morning expect some cloud this afternoon in the east for the South Island.
INSTABILITY CONTINUES
A thunderstorm risk with hail persists for western regions today, for more on thunderstorms see our thunderstorm page here.
BIG FRONT WITH HEAVY RAIN ON SATURDAY
A front moves in from the Tasman Sea late afternoon or evening on Saturday, rain will develop for western regions. Heavy rain is possible later in the evening or overnight about the far north, Taranaki and then about the Nelson / Marlborough regions.
