Tuesday’s News: Warm day in the east – Rain heavy in the south this evening – Cooler in the east on Wednesday, SI

> From the WeatherWatch archives

Here’s what is making the weather headlines today…..

WARM DAY IN THE EAST

Summer is coming, warm temperatures can be expected again for eastern regions much like yesterday, you could start to say it’s getting a bit hot. Coastal Otago is a touch cooler due to onshore winds.

Parts of Northland may crack 20 degrees too.

High’s today in the east are as follows:

Dunedin – 18

Oamaru – 18

Timaru – 24

Christchurch – 26

Kaikoura – 25

Blenheim – 22

Napier – 25

Gisborne – 22

RAIN MAY BE HEAVY IN THE SOUTH THIS EVENING

A front brings rain into Southland this evening, some cold upper air hints a few falls may be a bit beefy but thunder is not overly likely.

COOLS DOWN IN THE EAST ON WEDNESDAY – SOUTH ISLAND

Well it does for the east coast of the South Island at least, the beefy falls mentioned just above are part of a front that moves northwards later this evening and overnight. Cold upper air support is lost as the front moves north so beefy falls don’t continue but some cloud and a few showers will still move through.
