A southwesterly airflow lies over the country today, a cold front pushes north over the South Island this morning reaching the lower North Island this afternoon.
Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Partly cloudy with the odd shower, Bay Of Plenty is mainly dry but a shower or two could spread into western parts of the region from the west. Breezy southwesterlies ease in the evening.
Highs: 16 – 19
Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Some cloud and the odd shower with westerlies, winds change around to the southeast later in the day. Parts of Manawatu in the east may see some rain from late afternoon or evening then easing at night.
Highs: 11 – 16
Eastern North Island
Mostly sunny, southerlies freshen around midday for Wairarapa before pushing northwards during the afternoon. Southerlies bring thickening cloud and showers, rain develops for Wairarapa spreading north in the evening. Heavy rain possible overnight north of Napier.
Highs: 17 – 21
Wellington
A sunny morning then southerlies freshen around midday bringing increasing cloud, showers from late afternoon. Evening rain possible mainly further to the north.
Highs: 15 – 18
Marlborough & Nelson
Mostly sunny, southerlies freshen around midday for Marlborough bringing showers, some may be heavy for the Mt Richmond Forest Park area, easing later. Nelson may see a shower but more into the evening.
Highs: 17 – 19
Canterbury
Sun possible at first then southerlies freshen in the morning bringing increasing cloud, a few patchy showers from afternoon. Mackenzie Country sees the chance of a few heavy afternoon isolated showers, clearing at night.
Highs: 13 – 16
West Coast
Some sun for South Westland, further north expect cloudier skies and a few showers, mostly clearing in the afternoon but one or two may linger into the evening. Southwesterly winds.
Highs: 13 – 15
Southland & Otago
Mostly cloudy with occasional showers for Southland and coastal Otago up through to Otago Peninsula, clearing evening. Elsewhere for Otago has a mix of sun and cloud. Fresh southwesterlies, strong about the coast ease later in the day.
