Cold for most today in a southwesterly airflow, only parts of the eastern and upper North Island may see temperatures in the mid teens.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Occasional showers for Auckland and Northland, clearing late afternoon or evening. The odd shower returns in the west later on. Waikato and Bay Of Plenty are mainly dry although western Waikato may see a shower from late afternoon, a mix of sun and cloud otherwise. Southwesterly winds.
Highs: 12 – 14

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Showers, clearing in the evening but the odd one may remain for Taranaki overnight. Snow flurries lower to 700m about the Central Plateau before clearing. Westerlies.
Highs: 6 – 12

Eastern North Island

Partly cloudy with the chance of a coastal shower, showers for Wairarapa from morning spread northwards late afternoon or evening. Showers clear from the south overnight. Southwesterlies.
Highs: 10 – 15

Wellington

Showers, clearing late afternoon or evening. Southerly winds.
Highs: 9 – 10

Marlborough & Nelson

Partly cloudy, skies about Marlborough may be cloudier overall. The odd shower about especially morning. Southerlies tend onshore around midday.
Highs: 10 – 11

Canterbury

Partly cloudy, Banks Peninsula may see a shower later in the day. Inland South Canterbury is sunny. Southwesterlies, freshening in the afternoon about the coast.
Highs: 8 – 11

West Coast

Mostly sunny however north of about Greymouth expect cloud and occasional showers, clearing evening. Southwesterly winds.
Highs: 9 – 11

Southland & Otago
Occasional showers, snow flurries to 300m, clearing at night. Northern parts of Otago may stay dry all day. Cold southwesterly winds, blustery for coastal Otago.
Highs: 7 – 8
