An anticyclone brings mainly settled weather to New Zealand today, later this evening / overnight a front moves onto the lower South Island.
Dry for most of New Zealand today but there may be a light shower or two about, showers about Fiordland turn to rain in the evening.
Northerlies becoming gusty about coastal Fiordland and through Cook Strait this evening.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Morning cloud, perhaps a light shower or drizzle patch first thing then afternoon sunny spells, southwesterly winds die out in the evening. Afternoon northerlies for Bay Of Plenty.
Highs: 20-24
Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Morning cloud breaks to sunny spells, cloud may hang about during the day for the likes of Taranaki and Kapiti. Light winds then afternoon westerlies.
Highs: 18-21
Eastern North Island
Morning cloud breaks to sunny spells, Gisborne and perhaps coastal parts of Hawkes Bay may see a light shower or two, mainly morning. Light winds then afternoon east to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 21-23
Wellington
Morning cloud breaks to sunny spells, light winds then northerlies pick up from afternoon, especially through Cook Strait.
High: 19-21
Marlborough & Nelson
Early cloud then sunny, some high cloud from afternoon. Light winds tend north to northeast in the afternoon.
Highs: 20-23
Canterbury
Mostly sunny, some high cloud from afternoon. East to northeast winds pick up from midday.
Highs: 19-23
West Coast
Cloudy areas, chance of a light shower first thing. Afternoon sunny spells possible for North Westland. Fiordland sees showers develop around midday, rain from evening. Northeasterlies about Fiordland, light winds further north tend northeast later in the day.

Southland & Otago
Early cloud breaks to mostly sunny weather for a time, cloud starts to increase again from afternoon. Northwesterly winds for most tending northeast about coastal Otago.
