Tuesday’s national forecast – Mainly settled

High pressure brings mainly settled weather to New Zealand today, a front approaching the far south brings some rain to Fiordland and the odd shower to the West Coast.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Mainly sunny, Auckland and Northland could see some cloud and a shower or two hang about during the day. Light winds tend west to southwest, Bay Of Plenty has afternoon northerlies.
Highs: 22-24

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Sunny, coastal areas may see some cloud especially later in the day. Light winds tend onshore after midday.
Highs: 16-22

Eastern North Island

Sunny, however Mahia Peninsula northwards has morning cloud and a few showers then clearing. Southwesterlies tending southeast in the afternoon.
Highs: 20-21

Wellington

Sunny, perhaps a touch of high cloud. Light northerlies.
Highs: 20-21

Marlborough & Nelson

Mostly sunny with some high cloud, north to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 21-22

Canterbury

Mostly sunny, some high cloud, east to northeasterly winds freshen up in the afternoon, easing evening.
Highs: 19-22

West Coast

Increasing cloud, the odd spit or shower for most from midday. Rain develops about Fiordland in the afternoon reaching Greymouth later in the day or overnight. Light winds tend northwest after midday.
Highs: 19-21

Southland & Otago
Sun and high cloud, during the course of the afternoon and evening cloud thickens and there could be a few spots of rain move through. North to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 21-25
