A high starts to move in from the Tasman Sea today with a southwest airflow easing.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Sunny with south to southwest winds. A sea breeze develops in the afternoon for Bay Of Plenty up through to eastern Northland in the east.
Highs: 21-23

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Sunny, morning coastal cloud clears away. Light winds.
Highs: 16-20

Eastern North Island

Mainly sunny, some coastal cloud possible in the morning could bring a shower then clearing. Southwesterlies tend southerly by midday then to the east.
Highs: 20-21

Wellington

Some morning cloud then mostly sunny, light winds tend northerly around midday.
Highs: 18-20

Marlborough & Nelson

Any morning cloud clears then sunny. Northeasterly winds for Marlborough, afternoon northerlies for Nelson.
Highs: 20-22

Canterbury

Sunny, any morning coastal cloud clears. Light winds tend northeast in the afternoon.
Highs: 18-21

West Coast

Partly cloudy with the odd shower north of Hokitika through to Westport, Fiordland has longer sunny spells although southern Fiordland has a few showers. West to southwesterly winds.
Highs: 19-21

Southland & Otago
Sunny spells start to break through from afternoon for Southland and coastal Otago, coastal showers for Southland till evening then drying out. Brisk west to southwesterly winds. Central Otago is sunnier with westerlies in the morning tending southwest after midday.
Highs: 16-21
