A high pressure system covers New Zealand today, while most areas are settled afternoon showers for the North Island may bring a heavy fall or two.
Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
A mix of sun and cloud, the odd shower for Bay Of Plenty and Coromandel then spreading elsewhere. One or two showers may become heavy in the afternoon about inland Bay Of Plenty and Waikato, easing later. Northeasterly winds.

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Partly cloudy, isolated afternoon showers develop for Taranaki and perhaps the Central North Island, one or two could become heavy mainly inland. Light winds tend onshore after midday.
Highs: 19-24
Eastern North Island
Morning cloud breaks to a few sunny spells, a few isolated showers develop in the afternoon inland about the ranges. Wairarapa staying mainly dry. East to northeasterly winds.

Wellington
A mix of sun and cloud with light southeasterlies.
Highs: 21-24
Marlborough & Nelson
A mix of sun and cloud, easterlies for Marlborough, afternoon northerlies for Nelson. Tasman and some inland hills and ranges could see a shower.

Canterbury
Mostly cloudy, one or two showers possible. Over in the Mackenzie Country skies could break to some sun in the afternoon with warmer temperatures. East to northeasterly winds.

West Coast
Mostly sunny, there may be some cloud about especially in the morning. Light winds tend onshore after midday.
Highs: 20-24
Southland & Otago
A mainly sunny day for Southland after any early mist or fog patches clear, Otago has some cloud especially about the coast Otago Peninsula northwards where skies may be mostly cloudy. Light winds tend onshore in the afternoon.
