A high pressure system covers New Zealand again today much like it did in the weekend just been however a few flies in the ointment this time around. A cold front pushes off to the north of the North Island this afternoon meanwhile a trough brings a few showers for the upper North Island. A trough brings some wet weather to the West Coast also.
North Island
Mostly cloudy in the east however sunny spells develop about Wairarapa this afternoon. Hawkes Bay and Gisborne have a few light showers, clearing by evening. Out west expect a mix of mid and high level cloud, the upper North Island sees a few showers develop this afternoon as easterlies push in.
South Island
Sunny for Southland and Otago, perhaps some morning cloud about the Lakes District but this will clear. Fiordland should see sun too, perhaps some cloud later today. The West Coast otherwise has cloudy skies with showers or rain, easing later on. Nelson and Marlborough has cloud, breaking to sunny spells for a time this afternoon. Cloud breaks to sunny spells this afternoon for Canterbury, cloud clears this evening. Winds are mostly light, east to northeasterly winds for the east coast this afternoon.
