Tuesday’s national forecast – Frosty this morning

Inland parts of both Islands are a bit frosty to start today, the weather is a little so so with a weak area of low pressure pulling in a few showers for some North Island regions. Most of the South Island is dry apart from Fiordland.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Partly cloudy with the odd shower, Bay Of Plenty has a mainly sunny and dry day. Southwesterlies.
Highs: 14-17

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
A mix of sun and cloud, the odd shower, clearing evening for most but a few remaining for coastal Taranaki with southwesterlies, light winds elsewhere.
Highs: 9-16

Eastern North Island

A mix of sun and cloud, a few showers south of Napier then the odd isolated one pops up further north in the afternoon, possibly heavy with hail as light winds tend southwest, showers clearing at night.
Highs: 14-17

Wellington

Morning showers clear then sunny areas increase, southerlies ease dying out late afternoon.
High: 14

Marlborough & Nelson

Sunny, light winds tend onshore in the afternoon.
Highs: 14-16

Canterbury

Sunny, east to northeasterly winds across the plains in the afternoon.
Highs: 12-15

West Coast

Partly cloudy, showers for Fiordland turning to rain in the evening and becoming heavy. Light winds, northerlies for Fiordland.
Highs: 13-16

Southland & Otago
Mostly sunny, some high cloud later in the day with spots of rain for Southland, northerlies.
Highs: 15-18
