A series of front moves north over the country today, rain or showers for western regions then after a lag rain moves up the east coast, arriving for the eastern North Island overnight into Wednesday morning.
Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Partly cloudy, a few showers for Waikato. Widespread rain later in the evening as northwesterlies change southwest.
Highs: 20 – 22
Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Partly cloudy, a shower or two for Kapiti and Taranaki. Showers becoming more widespread in the afternoon, perhaps a few areas of rain moving in. Northwesterlies freshen.
Highs: 16 – 20
Eastern North Island
Sun and some increasing cloud, a few spits of rain for Wairarapa from late afternoon then further north in the evening. Northwesterly winds, blustery for Wairarapa. Overnight rain for Wairarapa with southerlies.
Highs: 20 – 25
Wellington
Partly cloudy, a few spits of rain or showers from midday. Overnight rain as strong northwesterlies change to the south.
High: 18
Marlborough & Nelson
Sun and high cloud, a few spits of rain in the afternoon as a front passes over. Rain overnight especially for Marlborough as breezy northwesterlies change to the south.
Highs: 21 – 24
Canterbury
Mostly sunny with a touch of high cloud, rain late afternoon for South Canterbury then pushing north in the evening as northwesterlies change to the south (strong about the coast).
Highs: 24 – 26
West Coast
Rain, clearing Fiordland mid to late afternoon as northwesterlies change southwest. Southwesterlies spread further north in the evening with rain easing to showers.
Highs: 16 – 18
Southland & Otago
The odd spit, especially for Southland and about the Lakes District. Rain develops in the morning for Southland then Otago afternoon as northwesterlies change southwest, rain eases to showers for Southland then Otago in the afternoon and evening respectively.
