Plenty of high pressure covers New Zealand today bringing mainly settled weather, rain about the far south though thanks to a front.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
A mix of sun and cloud, cloud thickens from afternoon pushing down from the north, a few showers Auckland northwards from evening. Light winds then afternoon sea breezes.
Highs: 20-23

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Morning cloud with the chance of a shower then sunny spells break through, northwesterlies change southeast in the evening.
Highs: 17-20

Eastern North Island

Mostly sunny, there may be a touch of high cloud. Cloud thickens in the evening with southerly winds, late showers or drizzle.
Highs: 22-25

Wellington

A mix of sun and cloud with northerlies, cloud thickens in the evening with a southerly change. A few overnight showers.
Highs: 19-20


Marlborough & Nelson

Sunny, cloud starts to develop for Marlborough in the afternoon then Nelson in the evening as southeasterly winds freshen, chance of a late shower mainly for Marlborough.
Highs: 20-23

Canterbury

A mostly sunny morning with a touch of high cloud, southerlies freshen towards midday with cloud gradually thickening. A few light drizzle patches develop in the afternoon.
Highs: 18-22

West Coast

Rain for Fiordland, easing in the afternoon, clearing evening. Further north there is the chance of a morning shower then sunny spells increase, west to southwesterly winds ease later.
Highs: 17-22

Southland & Otago
Rain, easing and clearing in the afternoon with sun breaking through. Southerly quarter winds tend to the east at night.
Highs: 13-16
