A westerly quarter airflow lies over New Zealand today, there may be the odd shower in the west especially the West Coast of the South Island. Drier and warmer in the east. A front moves onto the far south this evening bringing rain then moves northwards overnight.
Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Partly cloudy although Bay Of Plenty is sunny then expect some cloud from afternoon. There may be a shower or two in the west otherwise mainly dry, a higher chance of showers from evening for Waikato and Auckland. Southwesterlies freshen after midday.
Highs: 17-19
Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Partly cloudy, northwesterlies freshen from afternoon. Winds from the southwest for northern Taranaki. Chance of a shower from afternoon for Manawatu then elsewhere from evening.
Highs: 11-18
Eastern North Island
Sunny, winds are light for most, southwesterlies Mahia Peninsula northwards drop away in the morning with some cloud there clearing. West to northwesterly winds pick up later in the day.

Wellington
Mostly sunny with breezy northwesterlies.
Highs: 16-17
Marlborough & Nelson
Sunny for Marlborough with westerly winds, Nelson has southwesterlies and a few clouds now and then.
Highs: 18-20
Canterbury
Mostly sunny, northwesterlies pics up in the afternoon especially inland. Overnight a gusty southwest change brings rain.
Highs: 19-20
West Coast
Mostly cloudy, showers south of the Glaciers spread northwards in the morning. Rain develops for Fiordland in the afternoon, spreading northwards overnight as a cold front moves through. Westerlies change southwest with the front.
Highs: 14-17
Southland & Otago
A few spits or showers for Southland, drier further north into Otago with sun and thickening cloud. Rain develops this evening for all as strong northwesterlies change southwest (winds gale about the coast), rain eases overnight.
Highs: 15-20
