Tuesday’s national forecast – Between a high and a low

New Zealand has a northeasterly airflow today which is flowing between a large high to our east and a low in the Tasman Sea.

North Island

Cloudy areas today for the upper North Island and East Cape / Gisborne with a few light showers at times. Hawkes Bay has morning cloud then sun and high cloud. Elsewhere for the North Island today has a mix of sun and high cloud. Northeasterly winds.

South Island

Some cloud for the West Coast, rain about South Westland eases to showers this morning, perhaps becoming dry by this evening. Tasman may see the odd light shower also. Winds from the north or northeast. Cloud about Southland with a few showers. Elsewhere in the east has high cloud and some sun today, perhaps a little afternoon cloud for Otago into South Canterbury brings the low risk of an isolated shower with light winds tending onshore.
