High pressure regains its dominance over the country today. Still, the front that moved over the South Island yesterday will move onto the North Island but in a much weaker form. This will bring some cloud mainly to Wellington and along the east coast in the afternoon.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato, CNI & BOP
Mostly sunny with some cloud, light winds and afternoon sea breezes. Chance of a light shower about eastern Coromandle and eastern Northland now and then otherwise dry.
Highs: 23-25

East of the North Island
Mostly sunny at first, a change to southerlies around midday brings some increasing cloud. Low risk of some evening drizzle otherwise remaining dry.

Western North Island
A mix of sunny and cloudy spells, morning northerlies change southerly about midday.
Highs: 22-23
 
Wellington
Winds change southerly in the morning bringing some cloud and the risk of a shower, sunny spells then develop later in the afternoon.
Highs: 19-20
 
Nelson
Sunny with some cloud, light winds tending northeast in the afternoon.
Highs: 21-23
 
Canterbury & Marlborough
Any early showers clear then expect cloudy and sunny spells. Easterlies from midday about Canterbury, winds more east to southeast for Marlborough.
Highs: 18-20
 
West Coast
Early rain clears then expect mostly sunny weather with a few clouds about, light northerlies.
Highs: 20-22
 
Southland & Otago
Mostly sunny weather with light winds inland, westerly breezes about Southland may bring a few clouds. Northeasterlies for coastal Otago.
Highs: 17-22
