> From the WeatherWatch archives

A weak front pushes northwards over the South Island today bringing in a few showers, perhaps a thunderstorm in the northwest. The North Island is more settled but a shower or two is still possible.

North Island

A mix of sun and cloud for most, cloud a little thicker in the northeast this morning (East Cape across to Northland) bringing in a shower or two then this cloud breaks a little. A few isolated showers this afternoon anywhere from Northland down through to the ranges of Wairarapa. Light winds tend onshore after midday.

South Island

Cloud in the south spreads up the east coast this morning with southerly winds, a few showers moving through also. Sunnier out west but some cloud still pushes through for a time with southwesterlies, morning cloud and a few showers for Fiordland clear away. About and west of the Main Divide isolated showers develop about the ranges this afternoon, some may become heavy with a thunderstorm or two especially for the ranges of Buller, Tasman, Nelson and Marlborough.
