Western parts of the North Island get the odd shower in a westerly airflow today, drier out east. Cool southerlies for the South Island bring rain or showers in the east, clearing conditions out west.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Sunny spells with the odd shower at times, mainly in the west. Bay Of Plenty has a mostly sunny and dry day, a few early showers clear eastern Bay Of Plenty. Breezy west to southwesterly winds.
Highs: 21-26

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
A mix of sun and cloud with the odd isolated shower, showers clear overnight as westerly winds change southeast.
Highs: 19-22

Eastern North Island

Mostly sunny, a few showers move into Wairarapa in the afternoon then a few may reach further north overnight. Westerlies tend southwest late afternoon or evening.
Highs: 22-26

Wellington

Morning sunny spells, a few afternoon showers move in as northerlies change southerly.
High: 19

Marlborough & Nelson

Morning sun then cloud and a few showers develop in the afternoon as light winds change southeast.
Highs: 21-24

Canterbury

Showers develop in the morning, clearing later in the evening / overnight. Some morning sun for parts of North Canterbury with warmer temperatures before cloud moves in. Freshening southwesterly winds.
Highs: 14-18

West Coast

A few morning showers clear then becoming mostly sunny, light winds tend southeast later.
Highs:18-21

Southland & Otago
Morning rain eases to showers in the afternoon with dry spells increasing, conditions mainly dry by night time but there could still be the odd lingering shower. Cool southerly winds.
Highs: 12-15
