An anticyclone slowly weakens over New Zealand today, especially the North Island where easterlies build and a low to the northwest increasingly makes it’s presence felt during the day.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Patchy showers or drizzle about Northland and Auckland, rain develops about Northland in the morning spreading to Auckland from afternoon. Rain moves into Waikato and Bay Of Plenty late evening / overnight with a chance of heavy falls. Breezy east to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 15-17

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Mostly sunny with some developing high cloud, east to southeasterly winds. Rain moves into Taranaki late evening or overnight.
Highs: 14-17

Eastern North Island
Sunny areas and increasing cloud, late evening or overnight patchy rain. East to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 15-17

Wellington
Mostly sunny, some evening cloud as light winds tend Sou’East.
High: 14

Marlborough & Nelson
Mostly sunny, light winds tend easterly in the afternoon. Cloud thickens in the evening.
Highs: 15-16

Canterbury
Mostly sunny, light winds may tend southerly for a time.
Highs: 13-15

West Coast
Mostly sunny, light winds.
Highs: 14-16

Southland & Otago
Mostly sunny after any morning cloud breaks away, light winds tend onshore in the afternoon.
