A large anticyclone to the east of New Zealand directs a northeasterly airflow over the country.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Cloudy periods with a shower or two, northeasterly winds.
Highs: 16-18

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Taranaki has mostly cloudy skies with a shower or two at times, northeasterly winds. Sunny spells elsewhere with light northerly winds.
Highs: 13-16

Eastern North Island
Mostly sunny with northeasterly winds, some high cloud.
Highs: 14-17

Wellington
Mostly cloudy, northerly winds.
High: 15

Marlborough & Nelson
Thick high cloud, rain spreads into Nelson and the Sounds (mainly in the west) around midday with a few spots possibly moving into eastern coastal parts of Marlborough at times from afternoon also. Light north to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 13-15

Canterbury
Sunny areas and some high cloud, light northeasterly winds.
Highs: 12-13

West Coast
Cloudy with showers or rain for South Westland, a bit drier further north then rain pushes into North Westland by evening. Rain may be heavy late evening / overnight. Northeasterly winds.
Highs: 12-14

Southland & Otago
Some morning sun then expect increasing high cloud, chance spot of rain from afternoon about Southland and Central Otago otherwise mainly dry. Light north to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 9-13
