An anticyclone slowly pushes in over New Zealand from the west today, cold southwesterlies slowly ease in the east.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Partly cloudy about Northland and Auckland with the odd isolated shower, easing and clearing in the afternoon then areas of sun increase. The Waikato and Bay Of Plenty have a sunny day. Light south to southwesterly winds tend southeast by evening.
Highs: 13-15

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Mostly sunny, some cloud clips coastal Taranaki in the morning with the chance of a shower then clearing afternoon. Light winds.
Highs: 9-13

Eastern North Island
Mostly sunny for Gisborne and Hawkes Bay. The Wairarapa and Mahia Peninsula sees some cloud and a few showers, easing during the day but still lingering about Mahia Peninsula overnight. Southwesterlies freshen up towards midday.
Highs: 10-13

Wellington
Quite cloudy with fresh southerly winds, risk of a shower or two mainly in the east.
High: 11

Marlborough & Nelson
Sunny with light winds.
Highs: 10-13

Canterbury
Partly cloudy with southwest breezes, the odd shower out on Banks Peninsula clearing evening. South Canterbury has a mainly sunny day.
Highs: 8-10

West Coast
Sunny with light winds.
Highs: 9-12

Southland & Otago
Any morning cloud then mostly sunny, light winds for most however southwesterlies about coastal Otago ease during the day dying out late afternoon.
Highs: 7-10
