An anticyclone covers most of New Zealand today, a west to northwest airflow flows across the lower South Island.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Mostly sunny after any morning high cloud clears, west to southwesterly winds.
Highs: 23-28

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Morning cloud breaks to sunny areas in the afternoon, cloud may hang about Taranaki for much of the day. West to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 20-22

Eastern North Island
Sunny with afternoon east to northeast winds.
Highs: 24-26

Wellington
Sunny with northerly winds.
High: 21

Marlborough & Nelson
Sunny with afternoon east to northeast winds for Marlborough, afternoon northerlies for Nelson.
Highs: 25-27

Canterbury
Sunny with light winds inland, afternoon east to northeast winds near the coast.
Highs: 26-30

West Coast
Mostly cloudy with the odd light shower, rain about Fiordland eases from afternoon. West to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 18-22

Southland & Otago
Areas of cloud about Southland with the odd spot of rain possible, mainly afternoon. Otago is mostly sunny with overnight spots of rain possible. Northwesterly winds for most however light northeasterlies about coastal Otago.
Highs: 24-30
