A northwesterly airflow lies over the North Island today while southwesterlies develop further south, southwest winds spread to the North Island overnight.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Showers, some may be heavy. Northwesterly winds tend westerly around midday.
Highs: 14-15

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Cloudy areas and occasional showers, breezy northwesterlies change more west to southwest in the evening at which point there could be a few heavy falls.
Highs: 13-14

Eastern North Island
Mostly sunny with some high cloud, northwesterly winds.
Highs: 15-18

Wellington
Showers, some may be heavy. Gusty north to northwesterly winds.
High: 13

Marlborough & Nelson
Thick high cloud, the odd spot of rain possible, mainly morning. Nelson sees more frequent rain. Breezy northwesterly winds.
Highs: 13-14

Canterbury
Some high cloud then showers develop around midday as light winds tend southwest. Showers clear in the evening.
Highs: 9-12

West Coast
Morning rain then easing to showers, northerlies change cool west to southwest around midday.
Highs: 10-12

Southland & Otago
A few showers with west to southwesterly winds, showers clear in the evening. Parts of coastal Otago may be fairly dry till evening.
Highs: 11-12
