A front pushes northwards over the South Island during this morning then slows down around central New Zealand in the afternoon, finally pushing onto the western North Island this evening.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Sunny areas and thickening cloud, showers move into Northland during the morning then elsewhere late afternoon / evening. Northeasterly winds.
Highs: 15-16

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Sunny areas and thickening cloud, a light shower or two about Taranaki from midday then spreading elsewhere late afternoon. Northeasterlies tend northerly around midday.
Highs: 12-14

Eastern North Island
Mostly sunny with some increasing high cloud, a few spots of rain spread into the Wairarapa late afternoon then further north later in the evening. North to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 14-16

Wellington
Mostly cloudy, some rain for a time late afternoon / evening. Breezy to brisk northerly winds.
High: 13

Marlborough & Nelson
Cloudy with some scattered rain, spreading into Marlborough towards midday then clearing by evening for most. Gusty northerlies tend northwest during the day.
Highs: 13-15

Canterbury
Morning spots of rain possible then high cloud decreasing from midday, northeasterly winds tend more north to northwest in the afternoon.
Highs: 15-17

West Coast
Morning rain eases to showers, some may be heavy at times. Breezy northeasterlies tend northwest in the afternoon.
Highs: 11-14

Southland & Otago
Any early spots of rain clear then high cloud breaks to some sun, a few showers push through Southland late afternoon. North to northeasterly winds tend northwest by evening.
Highs: 13-14
