A westerly airflow lies over New Zealand on Tuesday, within this flow a front pushes northwards over the South Island however it weakens quickly.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Mostly cloudy with the chance of a light shower or two otherwise mainly dry, light winds. The Bay Of Plenty has a mix of sun and cloud with westerly winds.
Highs: 18-20

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Cloudy areas and the risk of a shower or two, breezy west to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 16-18

Eastern North Island
Sunny areas and some high cloud, light winds.
Highs: 17-21

Wellington
Sunny areas and some high cloud, breezy northwesterlies tend southerly in the evening.
High: 17

Marlborough & Nelson
Mostly sunny with light winds.
Highs: 17-20

Canterbury
Mostly sunny with some high cloud, a few areas of mid level cloud may hang about the coast Banks Peninsula southwards from afternoon. Light winds.
Highs: 16-19

West Coast
A few showers, some sun may break through from afternoon. Fiordland sees morning rain with heavy falls possible then easing. West to southwesterly winds.
Highs: 13-15

Southland & Otago
Morning showers clear then expect increasing sunny spells, west to southwesterly winds.
Highs: 13-18
