A weakening front moves off the top of the South Island this morning then onto the lower North Island. Northwesterlies flow over the North Island, light southwesterlies over the South.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Mostly cloudy with occasional sunny spells, sun a little more frequent about the Bay Of Plenty and Northland. Light west to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 16-17

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

Mostly cloudy with a shower or two, northwesterly winds.
Highs: 15

Eastern North Island

Mostly sunny with some high cloud, light winds about Hawkes Bay and Gisborne tend northeast in the afternoon about the coast. Northwesterlies for the Wairarapa.
Highs: 18-19

Wellington

Cloudy, chance of a shower mainly afternoon. Breezy northwesterly winds.
High: 15

Marlborough & Nelson

Sunny areas and some high cloud, north to northwesterly winds tend southerly later in the evening.
Highs: 17-21

Canterbury

Areas of cloud, thickening up from afternoon. Light southerly winds, tending easterly during the afternoon.
High: 14

West Coast

Showers ease then clear by midday, sunny spells develop in the afternoon with light southwesterly winds.
Highs: 14-15

Southland & Otago

A few morning showers clear then sunny spells increase in the afternoon, low risk of a further isolated shower late afternoon about inland eastern Otago. West to southwest winds.
High: 11-14
