A southwesterly airflow lies over New Zealand today bringing areas of cloud and showers for most regions. The lower South Island is looking fairly good however some cloud about Southland.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Morning cloud breaks to sunny spells around midday, the odd light shower possible mainly in the west. Southwesterly breezes.
Highs: 16-18

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

Morning cloud Wanganui southwards with the chance of a shower, sunny areas increase in the afternoon. Westerlies tend southerly by midday. Becoming mostly sunny in the morning elsewhere, southwest breezes.
Highs: 13-15

Eastern North Island

Morning sunny spells, cloud increases around midday with a few showers as southerlies freshen. Becoming dry by evening.
Highs: 14-16

Wellington

A few morning showers then clearing to sunny spells, southerly winds.
High: 12

Marlborough & Nelson

About Marlborough some cloud from early morning brings the chance of a shower, sunny spells then develop in the afternoon as southerlies tend easterly. Nelson has sunny spells from morning with light winds.
Highs: 12-14

Canterbury

Morning showers then clearing, becoming mostly sunny after midday with southwest breezes tending east to northeast.
High: 13

West Coast

Sunny spells with southwesterly breezes, overnight rain moves in as northwesterlies freshen.
High: 13

Southland & Otago

Mostly sunny about Otago, sunny spells for Southland. West to northwesterly winds, overnight rain with a strong southwest change.
Highs: 12-14
