A ridge lies over the South Island today while a southeasterly airflow sits over the North Island.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Mostly sunny, cloud may be a little more persistent about western Northland with the chance of a shower or two.  South to southwesterly winds.
Highs: 21-22

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

Mostly sunny with south to southeasterly winds.
Highs: 17-20

Eastern North Island

Patchy showers or drizzle, clearing Hawkes Bay in the morning but hanging around Gisborne for much of the day. Sunny areas from morning about the Wairarapa and a few breaking  through in the afternoon for Hawkes Bay. Southerly winds.
Highs: 17-18

Wellington

Mostly sunny with gentle southerly winds.
High: 17

Marlborough & Nelson

Morning cloud breaks to mostly sunny weather, afternoon east to northeast winds.
Highs: 18

Canterbury

Mostly sunny with light winds tending southerly in the afternoon for a time, cloud a little more frequent south of Banks Peninsula.
High: 18

West Coast

Mostly sunny with light winds.
Highs: 18-19

Southland & Otago

Any early showers clear then expect sunny areas with gentle westerly winds. Winds tend light easterly in the afternoon about coastal Otago.
Highs: 18-19
