A ridge moves onto the country this morning extending out from a high in the Tasman Sea bringing mostly settled conditions. Auckland northwards may see some cloud and the odd shower however which gradually clears from the south, also the east coast of the North Island during the day.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Morning cloud breaks to afternoon sunny areas, breezy southwesterly winds ease after midday. Auckland and especially Northland may see the odd brief shower about, clearing from the south in the afternoon.
Highs: 17-18

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

Early cloud breaks to mostly sunny weather, southeasterly winds ease in the evening.
Highs: 14-16

Eastern North Island

Mostly cloudy with southerly quarter winds, the odd shower at times. The Wairarapa dries out in the afternoon with sunny areas developing, Hawkes Bay sees cloud clearing in the evening.
Highs: 14-16

Wellington

Morning cloud breaks to afternoon sunny areas, southerly winds.
High: 13

Marlborough & Nelson

Sunny areas and some cloud with east to southeasterly winds, cloud may be more persistent about the Nelson region during the day.
High: 13-14

Canterbury

Morning cloud breaks to a mostly sunny afternoon, southwesterly winds die out in the evening.
High: 13

West Coast

Mostly sunny for South Westland, some cloud at times further north especially during the morning. Light winds.
Highs: 15

Southland & Otago

Mostly sunny after any morning cloud clears, light winds for most with southwesterlies easing about the Otago coast.
Highs: 10-12
