North to northwesterly winds lie over the North Island and upper South Island today, a front runs over the top of the South Island bringing rain out west and some in the east. Slowly this front moves onto the lower North Island during the day. For the lower South Island conditions are more setteled.
Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Sunny areas and some cloud with northerly winds. Cloud more frequent about the Waikato and Tauranaga during the day especially morning when drizzle is likely for the Bay Of Plenty.

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Mostly cloudy with northwesterly winds, the odd light shower catches
Taranaki and Kapiti from morning then elsewhere from evening. Spells of more
persistent rain about Taranaki from evening. The Central North Island stays
mainly dry during the day with sunny areas possible now and then.
Highs: 21-23
Eastern North Island
Mostly sunny with some high cloud, northwesterly breezes gusty about the
Wairarapa. Spots of rain move into the Wairarapa late afternoon / evening.
Cloudy with strong north to northwesterly winds, a risk of gales at times.
The odd spot of rain possible afternoon onwards, more likely from evening.
High: 20
Marlborough & Nelson
Cloudy with gusty northwesterlies, the odd spot of rain at times spreading
from the west for Marlborough. Spells of rain more frequent about Nelson with
rain possibly becoming heavy overnight.
High cloud clearing away and becoming mostly sunny this morning, gusty
north to northwesterly winds ease. East to southeasterly winds move through in
the afternoon, evening cloud.
Sunny areas and some cloud Hokitika southwards with westerly winds. Further
north expect cloudier skies with rain especially north of Greymouth, winds from
the northwest.

Southland & Otago
Morning cloud breaks to mostly sunny weather, breezy west to southwesterly
winds ease in the evening.
Highs: 18-22
