An anticyclone moves over the South Island today bringing mainly settled weather, southeasterlies lie over the North Island bringing cloud in the east and clearing weather out west. Northland however has cloud and a few afternoon / evening showers.

Northland
Sunny areas at first then cloud increasing in the afternoon especially out east as southerly winds tend southeast then pick up. Expect a shower or two in the afternoon and evening.

Chance of an early shower then expect sunny areas and some cloud, morning
southerlies then breezy afternoon easterlies
High: 25

Bay Of Plenty

Morning cloud with the chance of a shower then becoming mostly sunny,
southeasterly winds
High: 25

Waikato & Central North Island

Any early showers clear then becoming mostly sunny during the morning,
southeasterly winds.
Highs: 21-26

Eastern North Island

Early morning showers clearing Hawkes Bay, showers ease about Gisborne by
midday but the odd one could linger. Cloudy areas for much of the day after
showers clear although the sun may peak through time to time, especially further
south into southern Hawkes Bay / Wairarapa. Breezy cool southerlies tend a
little more southeast in the afternoon.

Becoming sunny early on, brisk gusty southeasterly winds for much of the
day.
Highs: 22-23

Western North Island

Becoming sunny early in the morning, southeasterly winds for much of the
day.
High: 21

Wellington

Sunny areas and some cloud, brisk southerly winds ease later in the
day.
High: 17

Nelson

Sunny with light winds in the morning then afternoon northeasterly
winds.
Highs: 20-21

Marlborough

Early cloud breaks to mostly sunny weather, morning southerlies tend
easterly around midday then easing later in the evening.
Highs: 20-21

Canterbury

Morning cloud breaks to mostly sunny weather, southerly winds gradually
fade away during the day tending easterly late afternoon / evening.
High: 19

West Coast

Sunny with light winds tending northwest in the afternoon.
Highs: 19-20

Coastal Otago

Mostly sunny with southwesterly breezes easing during the day.
High: 19

Central Otago

Sunny with light south to southwesterly winds.
Highs: 23

Southland

Periods of cloud and a few sunny areas with west to southwesterly
breezes.
High: 17
