A low in the Tasman Sea pushes closer towards the west of New Zealand today, this will be noticed about the west of the North Island and upper South Island later on in the form of some drizzle / rain. Northeasterly winds freshen about the upper North Island today becoming strong at times in the evening for some.

Auckland & Northland
Cloudy with the odd light shower from morning, patchy rain from afternoon becoming more persistent by evening. Increasing northeast winds, strong at times in the evening.

Bay Of Plenty
Becoming mostly cloudy in the morning, a few light afternoon showers or drizzle patches then
evening rain. Northeasterlies.

High: 15

Waikato & Central North Island

Mostly cloudy with northeasterly winds, freshening from midday. The odd
light shower or drizzle patch from early afternoon then some rain in the
evening.
Highs: 13-14

Eastern North Island

Thickening high cloud with northeasterly winds. Brief spells of rain move
in overnight.
Highs: 15-16

Taranaki

Mostly cloudy with a few light showers developing in the afternoon then
evening rain, increasing northeasterly winds strong for a time in the
evening.
High: 14

Western North Island

Increasing cloud then some rain later in the day, light northeasterly
winds.
High: 15

Wellington

Mostly cloudy with northerlies, odd shower from late evening then overnight
rain.
High: 12

Nelson

Cloudy with patchy drizzle from afternoon, late evening rain develops.
Light northeasterlies tend southeast overnight.

Marlborough

Mostly cloudy from morning with northerly winds tending northeast in the
afternoon, rain moves in late evening.

Canterbury

Increasing high cloud with light winds, cloud thickens evening with late
drizzle possible north of Banks Peninsula as winds tend southerly. Some
overnight rain for parts of northern North Canterbury.

West Coast

Thickening high cloud with east to southeast winds, a few showers north of
about Greymouth in the evening.
Highs: 13-14

Coastal Otago

Sunny areas and some high cloud, cloud gradually thickens and lowers from
afternoon. Light winds.

Central Otago

Sunny areas and a few clouds about, particularly morning and night. Light
winds.
Highs: 8-9

Southland

Sunny areas and a few clouds about, light winds tend westerly.
Highs: 11-12
