A front moves up the South Island today and onto the western side of the North Island this evening. Expect rain or showers with the front in the west of the country while out east the weather is mainly dry with high cloud.

Light winds tend northwesterly in the afternoon.
Cloudy with increasing northeasterly winds, areas of rain develop in the
afternoon. Winds tend northwest later in the evening.

High cloud thickening from morning, odd shower afternoon / evening.
Northwesterly winds.
Cloudy with the odd shower from mid to late morning. Strong northerly
winds.
Cloudy with areas of rain moving in early in the morning, rain may be heavy
for a time late afternoon / evening then easing and clearing around midnight.
Breezy north to northwesterly winds.
Mostly cloudy, showers move through from midday then clear later in the
evening. Breezy to brisk northwesterly winds. Rain may be heavy for a time in
the evening about the Sounds before clearing later.
